Reset or Reinstall Your VPS

If you want to start from a clean operating system, FreshPerf provides a VPS reinstall function.

Warning: reinstalling permanently deletes the data on the VPS. Back up important files before continuing.

1. Back up your data

Before reinstalling:

  • back up important files.
  • export databases.
  • save configuration files.
  • create a FreshPerf backup if your plan allows it.

The VPS Backups tab shows available backups and, depending on your plan, lets you create one.

3. Start the reinstall

Under Reinstall system, click Reinstall.

Follow the confirmation steps displayed by FreshPerf.

You can then choose the operating system image or distribution, depending on what your client area offers.

Check one final time that all important data is backed up before confirming.

4. Wait for installation to complete

Do not interrupt the process.

When reinstalling is finished:

  1. confirm that the VPS is Online.
  2. find the IP address under Network → Connection.
  3. connect again through SSH.
  4. reinstall your software and restore your data.

Reinstall or reboot?

If the VPS only has a temporary issue, try first:

  • Restart from the service action bar.

Use a full reinstall only when you really want to start from a clean system.
